Shopping is my CARDIO!!
When I go on a vacation I always try to read a lot about the place weeks before - so I can visit all the famous and infamous nooks and corners, have the tastiest of local cuisine, experience the spirits of the people,watch new sunrises / sunsets and let me come to it .....shop for local goodies !!!
I had a great girlfriend vacation with 2 of my awesome girls. We were out for almost a weeks time and our itinerary included the following Chandigargh-Dharamsala-Mcleodganj- Amritsar.
WAGHA Border Ceremony one of a kind in this world -- WE SAW THAT and also went across and touched the border ::TOUCHE!!
The GOLDEN TEMPLE was magnificient and we visited it at night when its in its full glory---the gold walls are ablaze with the yellow light and surrounded by water .It creates a special effect for you - awakens your religious side if I may say so, the atmosphere is just so pure and intoxicatingly holy.
Amritsar shopping can take place around the Golden temple and Jalianwala baugh area.Buy amazing PHULKARI dupattas AND PATIALA suits. Sector 22 and Sector 16 for shopping in Chandigargh - mojdis galore!!!
HAVE FOOD AT - PAL DHABA in Chandigargh
DO NOT MISS VEG food at -HAVELI on the way to Chandigargh by road from Amritsar-their hot tea is as famous as their food.
A shop on the road to the main square in Mcleodganj-where I purchased a Tibetian dress !You get really chunky pieces of jewellery and antique jewellery in the Mcleodganj markets.We bought a few of those ,2 skirts colourful with embroidery and cute prints. You get lovely warm shawls for as good a bargain as 350 Rupees.
The Chocolate Leaf is a small make-shift cakeshop on the way upto NADDI. It has only 2 to 3 types of pastries and cakes but they are awesome I gobbled 2 right there and packed 2 more for on the way back. Its run by a sweet lady called Rima whos just come down to settle her daughter in one of the lovely boarding school.Hope shes there the next time I plan on visiting.
THE CHOCOLATE DOG - A place shown on Highway on my plate - did live upto its standards- lovely chocolate cake mannnn! They also have 2 cottages and a wine shop which has GINGER WINES yummy -rate-500/-- Must try.
DHARAMKOT - has this superb Masage studio comes highly recommended by my cousin Bhabi-their army camps based in Dharamsala-so they are locals now.It was closed so couldn't try it- but the area where its based -splendid view !
DHARAMKOT Tatto Studio - is famous and hot looking interiors- they do only permanent tattoos.

Amazing cinnamon tea and mushroom soup,grilled chicken salad at Moonlit Café -Dharamkot. You can sit on their 1st floor café which gives you the most amazing view of the grand mountains which stand like giants staring at you from miles away.I went there twice to enjoy their food.

Me day 1 at Norbulingka Institute of Tibetian Culture and since we fell short of time the 1st day we came again the next day----calm , serene place -beautiful handcrafted frames, paintings, many things desirable on sale at the museum. Must visit.

So this was my most amazing journey :::::: Kangra Valley kee goad mein !!!
Nature never ceases to amaze the hell out of you -- same mountains , same skies, same trees, same sun ,same moon -- impossible how the weather affects your visual perspective /intake of a scene !! Can't reason out the beauty in some things -- just let it enthrall you , take you to another level maybe of spiritualism ...If being tranquil inside means being spiritual !! Its a lovely place to go if your work has busted the life out of you !! I am here now --- feeling de-stressed , healed !
Met my cousin ,my sis- in -law and my nephew who asked me questions like "do u know Guns & Roses --" etc etc guitarists etc etc and other such teenager questions-- lot of bonding over hot chocolate - supa fun times ! Will always remember this trip which has special memories.

Mcleodganj - SHOP- from Hotel Mcloo upto Buddha Temple ...just walk around the lanes -winding streets,uphill ,downhill -lovely jewellery, lovely clothes skirts, scarves, shawls, tibetian dress, bags, fried momos , authentic Tibetian cuisine.
Dharamsala - SHOP - Norbulingka Institute of Arts and Culture ..lovely handicrafts
Dharamkot - SUPERCHILLLLLL here just go for a short trek and have scrumptious meals at Moonlit Café and maybe a thin crust Pizza at Wood fired Pizza ,take a foot massage, get inked.
Naddi Trek - have amazing MAGGI and tea and MAGGI and tea and stop at The Chocolate Leaf have a yummy home baked cake.
Bhagsu Waterfalls - Enjoy MAGGI and tea , MAGGI an tea and shop when you walking down , lovely pants, bags, footwear.
Go for the NADDI TREK without fail ::: don't over stress , walk as much as you can hehehe - enjoy the gorgeous nature in 4D

This was a shop we saw on the way back from Bhagsu Waterfalls (Mcleodganj) - My eyes lit up when I saw so many colours and went shopping --yippiee .Bought some lovely harem pants and 2 cute coloured sandals. Its a lovely place to pick something different -and you can bargain yeah - Guess what , these people have a branch in GOA on Bagha Road.
