Paris-Bombay romance by Karl Lagerfield who finally understood that fashion in India means wearable stuff! I gathered alll the pictures which i loved. As you will soon see the grandeur unfold -finally these are clothes "on the runway' which are actually wearable. The Chanels Grand Palais home transformed to# what I would say fit the theme he worked so hard towards-# The Grand MAHARAJA Era! I was left astounded just taking in the magnificience of the transformation of the interiors which sailed smoothly into a surreal world for the guests, waiting for high tea. Models adorning mangtikka which is such a gorgeous traditional jewellery with their abyssal kohl'ed eyes - think its making a come back thanks to KARL jee!!
Perfect EXAMPLE OF GLOBALISATION when you see a Chanel Tweed jacket with a Nehru Collar done up in neons. Its great to see that Karl Lagerfeld has infused all the extravagance and over-the-top theatrics of the regular show season in this off the runway soiree.A complete royal & magical experience even though it was held in a restricted space.Actually that worked in his favour.Seeing is believeing & I I did get to watch the show on television. This silver toy train with tracks spread around the table, was actually carrying some colourful liqueurs on the lavish buffet spread to the delight of the guests which included Sonam Kapoor -our own high fashion girl from Bollywood.
The models strutted in regal shades of fuchsia, snowy white, gold and silver left everyone gasping for more fabric witchery.
Most of the outfits were inspired by Coco Chanels idea of India from the 60's as Karl L has never actually been here. Well he has not only captured the essence but has classicaly married the fundamentals of PAREE & MUMBAI fashion-wise. Most of the outfits are influenced by mens Indian attire & sarees have been transformed into easy wear drape for a non-saree wearer.I read somewhere that they were metallic evening gowns cut to look like a saree. How innovative!!Some jewellery from the collection---each jewellery item's "made in house"--EACH PIECE SPELLS ELABORATE DETAILING.
GLITZ & Glamour conspired from the heritage of the robust MUGHALS & MARATHAS paying homage to the Indian textile industry.
<<<<Mens outfits-more than regal!An EYEFUL of TRENDING!
Next time please invite me KARL :D
